The Burning

Slipping the tasteless green tea by the charred pineapple field,
Vivid memories return when he saw a kite flies high in the cloudless sky.

Seeing a boy riding the bike with a gal behind holding a petite umbrella,
His weak boney hands open a keychain watch that contain portray of a girl.

Reminded by the flickering light from the rusty old kerosene lamp,
Heart of his begins to take comfort under the unhurried setting sun.

The poem depicts an old age farmer whose pineapple field completely destroyed by the forest fire and loses his only love after his wife had passed away not long ago. This sad story takes place in Rimbo Panjang, Riau province, Indonesia where unethical forest clearing is very real.

Another great work of KK based on 10 words that he has given to me before, he decided to make his own based on that :)
